Contributions to the Legation are tax-deductible from income reported to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

DONATE THROUGH ESTATE PLANNING

There are several simple ways to include the Legation in your estate planning and help ensure its future.

With a single sentence or two, you can include the Legation in your will. For example:

“I give [ ____ percent of the residue of my estate] or [the sum of __________ dollars] to the Tangier American Legation Institute for Moroccan Studies for its general purposes, or for the benefit of [name of specific program – museum, research center, cultural center, etc]. Tax ID: # 52-1071222”

You can similarly name the Legation as a beneficiary of your IRA or retirement plan, life insurance policies, commercial annuities, or other financial assets.

DONATE STOCKS/SECURITIES

When you make a gift of appreciated securities, you enjoy a double benefit — you receive a charitable tax deduction for their full market value, and pay no capital gains tax on the sale. The date your shares are received in TALIM’s account will determine the value of your gift (calculated as the average of the high and low prices on that date). TALIM will send you written confirmation of the value and date of your gift for tax reporting purposes.
